St Nicholas Churchyard
Location: Union Street, Aberdeen

I only wish I’d taken a photograph of the grand façade of this churchyard, you can see it on the GMSV link I’ve posted above. There is one CWGC gravestone in this cemetery which I couldn’t see, and there are some gravestones with a military inscription. I only had a brief look round and found three near the Union Street gate but there are probably more.

The current layout dates from 1829 but the actual graveyard dates back to medieval times.

Major James MacKenzie of Glack
72nd Duke of Albany's Highlanders
Died at Burr in Rajpootanah, East Indies
5th March 1858 when on Field Service
Monument erected by his brother officers.

The 72nd Highlanders were on active service in the Indian Mutiny at this time.

71st Highland Light Infantry
Died at Murree, Punjab
3rd October 1864

He had served in the Crimea, Indian Mutiny and the Ambela Campaign on the North West Frontier in 1863
