Admiral Thomas Cochrane , 10th Earl of Dundonald , was born at Annsfield near Hamilton, Lanarkshire on 14 December 1775 with his early years at his family's estate at Culross , Fife. He joined the Royal Navy and was later commissioned and then served in the Chilean Navy and then returning to Britain etc

He died in London in 1860 aged 84 and was buried in WESTMINSTER ABBEY in London . He was a senior British Flag Officer and a Polician during his lifetime
