Squadron Leader I L M Hallam, Royal Air Force, 10th May 1952, aged 33.

Inscription - Watch the sunshot palaces high, the white clouds build in the breezy sky.

(The line is taken from Robert Bridges' poem 'When June Is Come')

One of The Few. Shot down flying recce patrol over El Alemein. POW Stalag Luft III. Died in flying accident while OC Aberdeen University Air Squadron. More info here http://www.bbm.org.uk/as-hallam.htm

Flying Officer W S Leonard, Royal Auxiliary Air Force, died April 3rd 1955, aged 24.

Inscription - I tell you they have not died, they live and breathe with you.

Can't find out any more on this man...

The light was fading (as is obvious from some of my pix) but on leaving I took this final shot of the Cross of Sacrifice surrounded by graves of men and women of many nationalities with the lights of Aberdeen Airport - formerly RAF Dyce - in the background.

I was touched by the care so clearly lavished on this cemetery and the equal treatment of friends and former foes alike in the distribution of poppies.

Dickson, Jackson, Kelley, Milliken, Riley and Thomson DFC, were members of a Wellinton aircrew who died when their aircraft crashed near Braemar during a training flight on 19th January 1942.
