Pte. CHARLES MADDEN, K.O.S.B., died 4th December 1915 aged 21 years
No sign of Pte. Charles Madden on CWGC or SNWM.
Rather than crop the image to show only Charles' name, I have left on more of the inscription to show how it is worded.
Charles Jnr. may have been the son of Catherine McKenna before she married Charles Madden Snr. but there are no Charles McKenna's listed either.
He may be her son from a previous marriage and was never formally adopted which would mean his surname would remain whatever Catherine's 1st husband's was.
(Pure conjecture of course! )
Working out the dates of birth of Charles and his mother Catherine, she would have been born c1872 making her 22 years old when her son was born.
She died in 1898 aged 26 leaving Charles just 2 years old.
