DANIEL TENNANT killed in action in France, 6th June 1916 age 27.
Son of Susan Chalmers* and step-son of Thomas Chalmers.

Although the inscription states 1916, further research has shown that the actual year of death was 1918.

*Daniel's mother Susan - Maiden Surname, Montgomery was married 3 times. Her first husband was Matthew Cram, second husband was Daniel Tennant and third husband was Thomas Chalmers (This information was taken from Susan's Death Certificate)

CWGC Details:
Name: TENNENT, DANIEL
Initials: D
Nationality: United Kingdom
Rank: Private
Regiment/Service: Dorsetshire Regiment
Unit Text: 6th Bn.
Date of Death: 08/06/1918
Service No: 12768
Casualty Type: Commonwealth War Dead
Grave/Memorial Reference: Panel 48.
Memorial: POZIERES MEMORIAL

SDGW Additional Details:
Place of Birth: Dunipace
Enlisted: Denny
Theatre of Death: F. & F.
SNWM Roll: Scottish Casualties extracted from English Records

I don't think there can be any doubt that the inscription definately says 1916.

Post updated 10.01.2008 with additional information kindly supplied by Lynn ('prowfamily') and details from SDGW from Adam
