This next photo is only vaguely military related. It is the grave of the wife of John McEwan, who served in the Lanarkshire Yeomanry and spent several years in a Japanese prisoner of war camp. He has written a book about his experiences, detail can be found here.

I should also add that John is a friend of my mother-in-law. He is still fairly well, although I believe he is shortly going into a nursing home as he is very frail. He still, however, regularly gives talks to groups of school children.

I have to report the sad news that John McEwan who I mentioned above sadly died on the 27th February this year.

Sadly I was never able to meet him, although I was delighted to receive a copy of his book inscribed to me.

I notice that the following link say the service was to have been held at Daldowie crematorium. I expect that the grave on the previous post will have some acknowledgement added to it in due course.
