Corporal Gilbert McDonald (32), of G.H.Q. Signals, whose home was at 81 Merkland Street, Glasgow, died early on
Saturday morning as the result of a fall from a motor lorry when on his way to camp. he received a fractured skull
and died in Kilmarnock Infirmary. McDonald, who was a labourer, was a married man. He had four children. His wife
and children were on holiday in Ayr. McDonald was unable to join the company of men marching to Gailes and joined
the motor lorry in Glasgow. How he came to fall from the vehicle is not known. The accident happened in the
vicinity of Irvine. |
