'Lieut. R. D. Orr, Arg. and Suth. Highrs. (killed), was the eldest son of Lieut.- Col. R. Orr, V.D., cashier of the Clydesdale Bank, Glasgow. He was educated at Kelvinside Academy and the Technical College, was for ten years in the employment of Messrs William Anderson & Sons (Limited), Princess Square and afterwards with Mr John Aird, commission agent, 41 St Vincent Place. He joined a territorial regiment in 1915, and went to the front in April last.'
