This is a very small village to the south west of Kirkcudbright, you cannot miss the church in the centre.

This is a private stone on a CWGC listed grave.

Air Chief Marshall Sir Alasdair Steedman died 2nd January 1992 aged 69 years.

This memorial plaque is set deep inside this mausoleum (?) and cannot be read with certainty, I took several photos with and without flash and am only able to make out a portion so this is an incomplete transcription

"Sacred to the memory of
Lt Colonel Sir William Gordon ???????
one of the six hundred
in the charge of the light brigade at Balaclava ????
born 26th October 18?? died ?????????"

He obviously was one of only 38 out of 147 17th Lancers who survived that day because he went on to serve in the Indian mutiny.
