The headstone for J G Small is lying down on the ground, sad that this has been allowed to happen when hundreds of tourists pass through there each day. |

I presume this is he:
SMALL, JAMES GALLETLY
Rank:Corporal
Service No:3854
Date of Death:18/02/1919
Age:28
Regiment/Service:Black Watch (Royal Highlanders)
2nd/6th Bn.
Grave ReferenceMiddle of yard.
CemeterySCONE OLD GRAVEYARD.
Additional Information:
Son of William and Jemima Galletly Small, of Gowanbrae, Scone.
Is this a "family" grave stone or a CWGC stone? |

Turns out that although the Graveyard is in the Palace grounds ,it is maintained by Perth Council.I spoke to a local councillor who is going to try and have it put back up but is not to confident that the council will do it. Does anyone know if the CWGC might put up one of their stones in its place. Many thanks in advance. |

Corporal 3854 James Gallertly SMALL , age 28 years 2/6th Black Watch is NOT listed on the Soldiers Died in the Great war as he died after 11 Nov 1918 - viz 18 Feb 1919
Corporal SMALL is NOT listed on the Scottish National War Memorial at the Castle Edinburgh either on their website index . Maybe he should be ??
Should Cpl 3854 James Galletly SMALL, Black Watch be listed on the Scone War Memorial ? His next of kin is shown at Gowanbrae, Scone.
Maybe " Dhubthaigh " maybe able to help us here with some info on the casualty and maybe get him listed on the SNWM (Black Watch) roll of honour ..........
There is only Cpl Small listed as a war grave in this Scone Old Graveyard in Scone palace grounds .

I see that CORPORAL 3854 James G SMALL
is listed on the MEDAL CARD at the National Archives at Kew in London :
as Royal Highlanders 3854 Cpl - 1914-1920
Is he recorded on any of the Perthshire War Memorials or Roll of Honour books ?
