John McGovern was born 9 June 1890 at 4:40pm at 8 Howegate, Hawick to John McGovern and Janet Wilson.
John died 23 Feb 1919 at Keith aged 28 and certified by Dr James
Taylor as Influenza Pneumonia the death was reported by his mother
Janet McGovern (Wilson) of 8 Howegate, Hawick on 24 February 1919 at
Keith.

I've subsequently found out that John's wife Jessie died of influenza 2 days prior to John.
