The parents will have no involvement with the RCE, it is a legal / court record. To describe her as Cecilia Cochrane Edmund or Sunshine is quite normal. The original entry should detail this marriage, but in a different way. _________________ Jim

So the comment above -QUOTE - "legal enquiry is made and the Fiscal or Sherriff will give a written statement which is used for the RCE." would suggest that an enquiry was undertaken, I assume to ascertain the cause of the gunshot?
So is it possible that there is more than the one page of the RCE that I have and would an enquiry to the Procurator Fiscal, Edinburgh result in my receiving a copy of that report, probably at cost?

A copy of her RCE will be available at New Register House - and that they simply haven't uploaded it onto their on-line service. _________________ There must be a place under the sun where hearts of Olden Glory grow young ..... |

I checked, the RCE is the usual single page. I am not sure how her death came about. I would expect suicide or something criminal to have been detailed, so must assume it was deemed to have been some sort of accident.
I doubt any legal papers relating to the Fiscal's " enquiries " will be available. A letter to the Fiscal at Haddington can do no harm. _________________ Jim

A response from GRO, New Register House includes the following =
An RCE reflects the findings of the Procurator Fiscal and the court regarding as here , a sudden or violent death etc. I would gather from the fact that there is nothng added or changed that the pathologist concurred with the original cause of death, and the Procurator was satisfied.
So, for a peaceful night's sleep, I shall accept that it was accidental.
