I was up at Inveresk Parish Churchyard today and took some new photos while we still had snow on the ground.

Both show Section C in the snow. This is where most of the WWI graves are.

The small stone next to the CWGC stone states that he was injured whilst saving a child.

From the 11th and 14th June Gasgow Heralds it says Private Alexander Turner, residing at 23 Rothesay Place, was on guard duty at railway bridge at Musselburgh.
A runaway butchers horse and cart was out of control and he attempted to stop it, suffering a fractured scull in the process when knocked to the ground.
His funeral took place on the 13th, a party of Royal Scots acted as bearers under a Sergeant.
