I have a request for help in finding some photographs on this forum.

I am hoping regular members here can point me to some headstones that are not that common and may be more difficult to find just by me trawling through some threads.

I am hoping people might remember ones they have photographed and posted that meet the following criteria:

1. Are for dates before 1870
2. Are for soldiers or sailors who died overseas and are not buried in the grave the stone sits above
3. Are family headstones – i.e. they list other family members other than the serviceman

Any help in this search would be very much appreciated

Kind regards

Adam

I see we've already got some graves that I need in a thread about men of the "600" - The Light Brigade at Balaklava

Have a look at Mar & Valley Cemeteries in Stirling - there's a couple (brothers) died in the 1857 Indian Mutiny.

Holy Rude Kirkyard (also Stirling) - Patrick Forbes died in Burma, 1825

Adam - I put 185* into the search box and got a surprising number of "hits" including some in Leswalt (from Mike Morley)

Adam

How about William Stroyan at Penninghame? Part of the Speke exploration seeking the source of the Nile.

Adam
There is a memorial to Bruce Gulliland who died in 1805 at the Battle of Trafalgar, with Nelson, posted on the Ayrshire, individual memorials page.
