Thanks to Forum Member 'MoragW', the grand-neice of Pte. Jarvis who has forwarded the information that his initals J. H. stand for JOHN HIGHLANDS (JARVIS)

Morag added that as well as inheriting his cap badge and other items, she is in possession of the original 'For King and Country' notice which announced his death in Craigleith Hospital, Edinburgh on 2nd October 1918 and not the 4th October listed on CWGC.
