There's probably a perfectly logical explanation for this but can anyone tell me why three apparently unrelated individuals - different surnames, units, dates of death - come to share a single stone in the Eastern Necropolis in Dundee

It's not as unusual as you might think.
The Western Necropolis, Lambhill Cemetery & St. Kentigern's in Glasgow have similar stones - some with up to 6 names.
Have a look here: http://scottishwargraves.phpbbweb.com/viewtopic.php?t=129
I think it would simply be a matter of filling up existing CWGC Lairs
The first time I came across a stone like this I was a bit surprised - especially as the dates of death were in no 'set' order. Possibly the first name would be in the standard position, then additional names added either above or below - wherever space permitted. They were obviously produced well after the last death, so why the 'order' of first death being the top name on the stone isn't necessarily the case - who knows?

Anne
If I remember correctly were these men who had died in, for example, Stobhill Military Hospital????
Could this be the same kind of thing? From a very quick look at scotlandspeople it appears that they died in Angus (but not Dundee).
Was there a Military Hospital nearby?

Thanks Anne & Ken. Just I'd never seen one in these parts before.
