There are two men listed but certainly not brothers (from the inscription of their parents names) so perhaps cousins?

Bit of a mystery here, the stone says Military MBE and Bar, but you can't get a bar to an MBE or any other orders of the Empire, except the BEM and that is only possible in theory, I have never heard of one.

The transcription of gravestones at Dalbeattie Library refers to:
Grave 7 Thomson, James killed in action in France 9 January 1917

Grave 17 Davidson, Adam Edward Royal Scots killed in action in Palestine 6 November 1917

The latter appears (just) on the picture of the Davidson gravestone already posted by Spoons above the lines for John Adam Davidson.

The former appears to be James Thomson Corporal 2262 16th Battalion Australian Infantry AIF Age 31 Date of Death 9/1/1917
Son of Elizabeth Thomson of Knockenhooly, Southwick, Dumfries, Scotland and the late James Thomson.
CWG Dartmoor Cemetery, Becordel-Becourt.

I was back there today to photograph what I missed on my first attempt. Better light and weather today. Got Walker, Davidson and Thomson but returned and found that Walker and Thomson had been posted. Oh well, it was a nice drive and I made another couple of stops.

Just to answer your question about the relationships between Adam Edward Davidson and John Adam Davidson, John's father Walter was Adam's brother. So uncle and nephew.

I've been checking back on the photo of the Thomson gravestone to see if another brother, David, is the one listed on the Colvend War Memorial (it isn't) when I realised that I'd posted the details for James but not Robert Embarassed

I'll do it after this - could some kind person edit to move it to before the Photo Question
