I am researching a famous Cameronian, Lt. General Sir Alexander Galloway (1895-1977). His positions included High Commissioner and Commander in Chief in British Occupied Austria (1947-1949), CinC in Malaya (1946-1947), commander XXX Corp (1946), and many others.
There is a small collection of his letters in the Churchill Archive Centre but I have been unsuccessful locating any further personal documentation or next of kin. His military personnel files are thus off limits, although there is material available in the collections of other officers such as Auchinleck, as well as at the PRO.
After his retirement Sir Alexander and his wife Lady Dorothy resided in Norham, Northumberland, but they both died in Edinburgh. Any information regarding where they are buried would be greatly appreciated.
With many thanks
