Anyone know anything about Tencourt Cemetery?

The family grave for Pte. 40780 John Brown, 2nd Battalion Cameronians in Castle Douglas Cemetery (photo from Spoons at

has Pte. John Brown, Scot. Rifles, his son, who was accidentally killed at Peronne 1st April 1917 aged 36 years. Interred at Tencourt British Cemetery
The CWGC, however, has him as listed on the Thiepval Memorial (he is the only John Brown to have died on 1/4/1917)
I can find only one other reference to a Tencourt Military Cemetery on the web, concerning a US officer who was buried there.
Was this cemetery "lost" during the 1918 battles of the Somme?

I think that should probably be Tincourt. The village was occupied by British forces just the previous month and many graves were subsequently destroyed by shellfire.

I've been to Tincourt several times and it wouldn't make any sense John being buried there.
The cemetery was begun in June, 1917, and it is towards the frontline from Peronne.

I don't know of any "Tencourt" in that area but there are a few "..courts" such a Jencourt, Jouncourt etc.

I would contact the CWGC and ask if there was such a cemetery as Tencourt.
