Visited Gress Cemetery in Lewis this pm, and came across a poorly legible gravestone, on which Donald Munro was mentioned as having been killed in France on 18 June 1918 at the age of 32. My cross referencing from the local Roll of Honour had him as serving with the Canadians, but he does not feature on the listings for the CEF. Neither can I trace him on CWGC. I have found that the Lewis ROH is riddled with errors, so I treat the info I got from them with suspicion.
This is all I have:
Private DONALD MUNRO
Last address in Lewis: 40 Back,
Son of Donald and Annie Munro
Service unit: Canadians
Date of death: 16 June 1918
Killed in action
Local memorial: Back
Can anyone help? |
