Well that is typical of BBC "dumbing down". It's in the technology section but doesn't explain what the technology is!! Can anyone tell me how it works? _________________ Mary Young

Hmmm ... not being a techy ... "pattern recognition allied with vector graphics" leaves me more puzzled!
What does the gizmo look like? A digital camera - or a handheld scanner - or a sheet of brown paper and some wax crayons? Can one weak woman carry it about or does it need a gang of strong men? _________________ Mary Young

Not being a 'techy' either . . . .
I think you and I might be better sticking to sun and shadows Mary!!
I have this image in my head of wandering around graveyards looking like a dalek or something - oh, wait a minute - daleks can only go on flat surfaces, or was that only in the days when I was scared witless of them?
Anyway, I wonder if anyone's considered the amount of palimpsest stones - the ones with several inscriptions on top of each other, or would this new wonder thingy understand all that?
