I have just posted this alternative commemoration on CWGC. It is in St Andrews cemetery, Dumfries and commemorates 3 individuals who are buried in another cemetery. This is listed on CWGC as if it were a grave. The actual place of burial (Holy Cross) is not listed on CWGC. Perhaps the priest at the time objected to military inscriptions on headstones in his churchyard?

I have never seen anything like this before, has anyone else?

There's two stones in Dalziel (Airbles) cemetery in Motherwell.
One commemorates men buried in the Globe Cemetery, which has now been closed and effectively abandoned.
The other commemorates men buried in Dalziel Churchyard. I believe some graves were "lost" when the road was widened.
