Dunscore village, W of B729.

Number of CWGC burials 3

The graves in the foreground are actually in Dunscore cemetery (separate listing). The area in between the cemetery and the churchyard is a small low lying pasture.

And there is a private stone to Pte Thomas Rae of the Scots Guards, but I'm sorry the photo isn't brilliant:

Name: RAE, THOMAS
Initials: T
Nationality: United Kingdom
Rank: Private
Regiment/Service: Scots Guards
Unit Text: 1st Bn.
Age: 21
Date of Death: 27/09/1915
Service No: 8798
Additional information: Son of Mrs. Agnes Graham, of Kirkgate, Dunscore, Dumfries.
Casualty Type: Commonwealth War Dead
Grave/Memorial Reference: Panel 8 and 9.
Memorial: LOOS MEMORIAL

The transcription reads:

In
memory of
Pte Thomas Rae

27th Sept 1915 aged 21 years
Also his sister Mary
who died at Kirkgate, Dunscore
28th Novr 1918 aged 15 years
Also their dear Mother
who died at Kirkgate, Dunscore
23rd Octr 1937

This is a double sided stone with this inscription from an earlier date:

erected by William Dale her Brother.
