Brothers remembered on their family stone in St Andrew's Churchyard, Tongue.
CHARLES WILLIAM MACKAY Cameron Highlanders S/26515. Missing believed KIA on first day of Third Battle of Ypres.
SINCLAIR MACKAY RNR contracted measles while on on board HMS Victory for initial training. His father, who had gone from Tongue to see him, returned home with his body for burial. [details from a member of the family, also Alasdair Sutherland's "Never More".)
In loving memory of ROBERT MACKAY beloved husband of ANNIE MACKAY who died 30th March 1943 aged 84 years. Their family CHARLES who died in France 2nd August 1917 aged 21 years. SINCLAIR who died at Portsmouth 15th September 1918 aged 18 years. ... Also his wife ANNIE died 26th July 1957 aged 84 years.
