Garyvard [Gearraidh Bhaird] lies in the district of South Lochs, some 23 miles south of Stornoway along the B8060 from Balallan to Leumrabhagh [Lemreway].
The cemetery is located above the shores of Loch Erisort; its entrance can be found a few hundred yards west of the village, opposite a loch along the roadside. Cars should be parked in space available along the main road. Please walk down to the cemetery itself, closing all three gates behind you. The access road is fairly steep, and care must be taken in wet or icy conditions.

It was a mention of Catherine's wargrave and her story that attracted me to these forums.
She was called up and had to receive inoculations - to which she seems to have suffered a fatal reaction. The text on the gravestone tells a story in itself, that her death must have come very quickly. A last farewell was not even possible. |
