SNWM:
Surname DAVIDSON
Firstname R
Service Number 9124
Date Death 21/02/1916
Place of birth Glasgow
Other 5th Bn.
SNWM roll THE CAMERONIANS (SCOTTISH RIFLES)
Rank Pte
Theatre of death England.

The inscription from the stone reads .......

...... "Rifleman ROBERT FENTON DAVIDSON, 5th Scottish Rifles
Wounded in Flanders 10th February 1916
And died at Royal Herbert Hospital, Woolwich 21st February 1916 in his 18th year (age 17)

I've tried every deviations in spelling I can think of trying to find this man on CWGC with no luck.

Confused

Nope, I can't find him either.
He has 2 MIC's, as his middle name has been wrongly listed on one of them but one shows that he died of wounds.
Looks like a possible non-commemoration.

Thanks for looking Derek.

Have you tried to access SNWM of late?

For the past three or four days the search pages haven't been working. The message is "resource locked, try again later" - wonder what's going on there??

Would he be on CWGC if he died in England from something not contributable to the war?

I don't know; but I think that I know a man who does.

If I don't get an answer here, I'll ask and report back.

All the facts point to him having died of wounds so there is no reason for him not to be commemorated by the CWGC.
