William was born in Kirkinner in 1920. He was killed in an accident on board the destroyer HMS Tartar while she was in dry-dock in London for a major re-fit. He is listed on the Kirkinner WW2 Memorial and Kirkmabreck Parish (Creetown) War Memorial.
