Sacred to the memory of Alexander MacDonald, late Sergeant, Royal Artillery who died 12th August 1846 aged 48 years. His services in the army during the period of 25 years gained him high testimony from all under whom he served. He filled the important station of Signal Sergeant at the Upper Station of Gibraltar for 8 years and was presented with 3 Good Conduct Medals by The Master General of the Ordinance. This tribute of affection is placed here by his disconsolate widow Elizabeth Garman and his children 1850.
