Saw this in GWF

" BURIAL IN GRANGEMOUTH, AB Robert W ESPLEN RNVR (RND)

MOD (Navy) have recently accepted that ESPLEN's death after discharge should be commemorated by the CWGC. It would be good to locate a place of burial.

Can any member near Grangemouth help in finding his grave, please?. He died on 8 January 1917 at home address, Old Dock Gates, Grangemouth, and his death was registered at Scots GRO index = 8/1/17 13.05pm, age 29, Grangemouth, GROS data = 481/B20008. "

Thread is here http://1914-1918.invisionzone.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=119670

Paul,

Grangemouth has it's own cemetery (Grandsable) which I've 'done' but didn't find a stone to anyone called Esplen. This isn't to say he's not buried there, I might just not have found his stone, providing of course that there is one.

There's every chance he could also be buried in Polmont Cemetery which is just up the hill. (Didn't find a stone there either mind you!)

I'll try and get into the Cemetery Records Office and see if they can help out.

Anne

thanks Anne, I'm not after the info myself, it's just that I think that if we can answer the odd query like this on GWF without going too far out of our way then it is a good way to plug our projects. I wouldn't make a special trip though.
