Two men listed died on the same day, 4th June 1940. Both were serving with 4th Bn Seaforth Highlanders, 51st Highland Division.

Although one headstone says Lost at St Valery the 4th Bn Seaforths on 4th June suffered heavy causalties at Abbeville, about 60 miles along the coast. They attempted a counter attack alongside 31st French Division but were unable to break through the German lines.

4th Seaforths did not arrive at St Valery en Caux until a week later.
