Targelle Ravine British Cemetery was made in September and October, 1918. There are now over 100, 1914-18 war casualties commemorated in this site. Of these, a small number are unidentified. A large number belonged to the 9th Highland Light Infantry (Glasgow Highlanders). The cemetery covers an area of 348 square metres and is enclosed by a low rubble wall.

Villers-Guislain is a village in the Department of the Nord, 2 kilometres south of the main road from Cambrai to Peronne. The cemetery is about 1.5 kilometres south of the village, on the north side of a shallow valley.

No. of Identified Casualties: 107

(Pte. James [Jimmy] Graham was his step father's Uncle.)

James had served earlier in the war in the A.S.C., had been slightly wounded and then released from service. He was then employed in some form of ammunitions work.
Following the German offensive in early 1918, he was recalled to the HLI.

Although James was a Private in the H.L.I., he did achieve the rank of Lance Corporal in his original R.A.S.C. role. Unfortunately, his service records does not appear to have survived.

He married Isabell MacFarlane from Inverkip in February 1918, seven months before his death.
