Here lyes the mortal remains of James Cameron Esq Lieut H P of Her Majesty’s 77th Reg of Foot. For nearly a quarter of a century Factor on the neighbouring Estates of Kilcoy and Drynie. The arduous duties which devolved upon him throughout his long life he discharged with unusual energy, judgement and fidelity. Respected by his constituents, he was also endeared to the tenantry by the integrity of his dealings with them and there sincere regards for their interests. He was the warm friend of the deserving in whatever rank. He has left many attached friends as well as mourning relatives to revere his memory. He died on the 12th Sept 1849 aged 74 years. And also of his wife, Clara Logan who died Sept 1825.
