This simple tomb covers the remains of Lieutenant Colonel Alexander Sutherland who when living was faithful in discharging the duties of this life. He was affectionate to his relatives, kind to the poor and loyal to his King and Country. He lived to do good and died regretted by all who knew him. He died at Brae? In this parish the residence of his ancestors on the 22nd May 1822 in the 79th year of his age. This tribute to his memory is erected by his nephew Captain Hugh Alexander Sutherland of Pit? **Mod Edit: Adam, probably Pitgrudy**
