One thing I really find irritating is that you have to be very specific about how you search for a casualty on the CWGC site.
However if you know some details of the casualty ie the date of death or even the year and unit or any number of different options then use this site to make it a bit easier on yourself.

It only does 1939 to 1947 but it does do a lot of the work for you.

Yes, Geoff's search engine is a real boon to research, I use it all the time. There is a WW1 version too but it's on a different site:

By the way we are pretty slack here and if it's been posted on our sister site, the war memorial forum, we usually don't bother duplicating it here.
