1862. Sacred to the memory of Charlotte Walker who departed this life at Dingwall on the 20th of March 186? Aged 83 years. Relict of Captain Francis MacLean, Royal Navy who died in Aberdeen on the 21st of March 1837. In her were united in an eminent degree the dualities of a dutiful wife and an affectionate mother, an amiable and benevolent disposition endeared her through life to all who knew her, and at its close her uniformly meek and lowly submission as a Christian conspicuously appeared. This stone was erected from the gift of one of their dutiful sons Alexander MacLean who died in the prime of life on the 23rd of March 1857 in Lat. 20° 24 S Long. 31° 58.4 W on his homeward passage from Geelong in command of the ship Thames of London. Cited to the cherished memory of Charlotte MacLean who departed this life at Dingwall on the 23rd of July 1861 aged 17 years, the beloved daughter of Donald Ross, Surgeon and his spouse Isabella Elizabeth MacLean. Here are deposited the mortal remains of Donald Ross, Surgeon who died at Dingwall on the 27th of May 1868 aged 65 years and of his spouse Isabella Elizabeth Maclean, daughter of Captain Francis MacLean, RN who died at Dingwall on the 29th May 1887 aged 78 years.

The Skye & Lochalsh Roll of Honour by Graham Ross lists :
I have abbreviated it as I made notes from the full wording on the Roll of Honour
Private Lewis A R Gillanders , Machine Gun Corps
Pte L .A. R. Gillanders was 22 years of age , born Portree , lived with his parents , Andrew & Helen Gillanders . His father, Andrew Gillanders was a local Schoolheadmaster . He enlisted in the East Yorks Regiment in 1915 , sent to France and whilst in France transferred to the newly formed Machine Gun Corps in 1917 . Whilst serving with the Machine Gun Corps he was severely wounded and after treatment was discharged as unfit and returned home to Portree . On 1 December 1919 at the schoolhouse in Portree he died as a result of his wounds . He is listed on the Portee War Memorial .
I recall that this Graham Ross roll of honour has him buried in the old Cemetery at Portee but I visited Pte Lewis A R Gillanders grave in the recent months and his parents and grandparents are nearby his in the Churchyard in Dingwall ...
Pte L.A.R. Gillanders is also listed on the Portree Secondary School war memorial in the Portree High School .
