Anyone fancy a wee trip to Bathgate Cemetery?

I've been speaking to Iain Anderson who is the CWGC Scottish Regional Supervisor and there's one particular grave he can't locate there.

The details are:

Name: WATSON, JAMES PEARSON
Initials: J P
Nationality: Canadian
Rank: Private
Regiment/Service: Canadian Infantry
Unit Text: 11th Bn.
Age: 39
Date of Death: 16/04/1916
Service No: 478564
Additional information: Husband of Jean Watson, of New Waterford, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia.
Casualty Type: Commonwealth War Dead
Grave/Memorial Reference: L. 40.
Cemetery: BATHGATE CEMETERY (Not Boghead Cemetery, Bathgate)

The description of the stone is that it's 4' 6'', sandstone, so it'll be a family one rather than a wee CWGC one.

Thanks in advance,

Anne

Sorry to be pedantic, but has he asked the local burials officer at the Town Hall where the lair is?

ps He sounds like just the kind of person we need to keep in with, especially with his connections Wink

Good afternoon to all,

Has anyone managed to locate and/or photograph the memorial for James Watson?

I believe there is an error in the recording of his unit, and that he is actually a soldier of The Royal Canadian Regiment (The RCR). I have been collecting the grave photos of First World War casualties of The RCR for my website, and would greatly appreciate a photo of Watson's grave.

Bathgate Cemetery (at The Regimental Rogue)

If available, photos may be forwarded to me at regimentalrogue (AT) gmail.com. Please include the photographer's details for attribution.

Thank you

Michael O'Leary
(Captain, The RCR)

I might try and go along to Bathgate on Sunday and photograph this cemetery. Anyone fancy joining me?

I'll confirm if I'm definitely going nearer the weekend.
