In the centre of Tynron, the church is now disused.

Please note, your man - Service No 7932 is not correct man on this grave.
Correct man as follows:
William Cringean died from wounds on 8th Septemebr 1918 in France.
Service No 23563 from 6th Bn., KOSB's
He is found on CWGC and SNWM and commemorated on the WM in Dunscore, and mentioned on Page 190 in Glencairn Memorial Book.
William was born at Peilton, Glencaairn on 26th June 1883,
From grave think mother was JANE ANDERSON and not sure of father - but am checking up on his parents, The grave states died from wounds in Germany; but all infromation is died in France.
Note spelling on grave is Crinean, and on Wm and other information is CRINGEAN. Have photo of grave.
When have more information will let you know.

Family grave in Tynron for McCaw Family - and shows 8 grandsons for William McCaw who fell in Great War, 1916-1918.

All 8 are named on stones I have photo.

This month the McCaw Family coming to Tynron for reunioning - one of the homecoming events in Dumfriesshire. I am attending and will try to collect all the information about the 8 men

When have will pass on.

Another stone, in churchyard at back; which is broken, is for-

JOSEPH HUNTER McMUNNIES, Service No 16336, from 1st Bn., KOSB's a Private death on 13/8/1915, he was torperded on the HMS Royal Edward and died at sea. he was 19years old. Son of William Hunter and Fanny McMunnies of Tyrnon. Father, 1852-1909. Mother not on gravestone, only other children.
Found on CWGC and SNWN. Joseph was born in Tynron.
He is commemorated on the Tynron WM. Have photo.

Last grandson on stone is: Serg. William McCaw Brown, Service No S/11580
lst Battalion The Gordon Higlanders. Died on Wounds 28th Sept 1917.
Remembered with honour in Mendinghen Military Cemetery. Aged 34 years - information from Commonwealth Graves. Father was William Brown and his mother Marion McCaw, from Cairnside, Moninave full army history in - The Glencairn Memorial book on pages 78-80.
Marion was the only child who stayed at home, her parents brothers and sisters moved to New Zealand.
Grandsons from New Zealand:-
William McCaw, 23/840 and John Thomas McCaw 13349 are brothers.
Willaim Armstrong McCaw 3/602 and Douglas Victor McCaw 71042 are brothers.
Peter Rankin McCaw 26/359 and Robert Duncan McCaw 74795 are borthers.
William Robert Currie's mother was Mary McCaw who was the oldest daugther. His service number 61222.
All this information I am busy compiling into Tynron War Memorial book which will be out later on in year.
