An example of how history can be quite complicated:
A portrait from a Hawick newspaper states that Thomas Scott served in the Royal Scots though the CWGC states it was in fact the KOSB before transfer to the Labour Corps.
The only MIC in existence only shows service in the Labour Corps.
Thomas appears on the Hawick roll of Honour listed under the Royal Scots whilst the Innerleithen War Memorial may show him as being Royal Engineers (there being only 1 Thomas Scott listed here).
His death certificate shows the cause of death as Pneumonia and Heart Failure - no mention of gas poisoning.
