CAPTAIN ALBERT McLEOD, 16th BATTALION, AUSTRALIAN INFANTRY
(see grave photo above)
Albert was born 14 January 1891 in Katanning, Western Australia.
He enlisted as Private (366) in Sept/Oct 1914 and served at Gallipoli where he was wounded. Promoted to Corporal then 2nd Lieutenant and in March 1916 to Captain 16th AIF. He was wounded again at Pozieres and evacuated to King's College Hospital in London.
Under a scheme for invalided Australian Officers, he visited Glaisters Shooting Lodge in Corsock where, on 5 December 1916, he was accidentally killed by a shotgun discharge.

A full report of the incident appears from page 99 of his service file at the National Archives of Australia site.
