Location: Muirburn Road, Glassford.
This cemetery opened in 1878 and was built around the old church which sadly only partially remains. Over the years several extensions have been added which continue to provide lairs for future generations.
A map showing the location of Glassford Churchyard
Number of CWGC burials: 4 (plus 1 CWGC Civilian burial)

Name: Andrew YUILL
Rank: Unknown
Regiment: 5th Dragoon Guards
Drowned on 11th October 1838, somewhere between Newcastle and Leith, when the "Northern Yacht Steam Ship" foundered.
A brief internet search has come up with no details about this incident. I may try and look into this further.

This grave mentions a Surgeon Lieutenant-Colonel Thomas Wilson Jackson, Army Medical Staff, but it may actually not be his place of burial. It may not even be his death that is recorded as being in Las Palmas. The wording is slightly ambiguous. It is either him or the husband of his daughter.
Surgeon-Commander William Jackson, Royal Navy is buried here, however. Died at Strathaven on 13th February 1961 aged 88 years.

2nd Lt Nicolson is listed as MA on the headstone but not on CWGC. I wonder if he attended one of the Scottish universities? |
