Name: THOMPSON, JAMES
Initials: J
Nationality: United Kingdom
Rank: Gunner
Regiment/Service: Royal Garrison Artillery, 321st Siege Battery
Age: 39
Date of Death: 3 July 1917
Service Number: 94915
Additional Information: Son of the late Alexr. and Mrs. Thompson of Barmeal, Port William, Wigtownshire.
Grave Reference: I. E. 24
Cemetery: Vlamertinghe New Military Cemetery
A detailed survey of Glasserton cemetery in the late 70s identified the memorial inscription for James Thompson and noted its precise location on a plan. When I visited the cemetery I carefully consulted that plan and concluded that the grave stone had fallen on its face some time after that survey.
