Recently this forum was made inactive due to no posts being made within thirty days.

We contacted the forum hosts, who reinstated it immediately, however they notified us that the site host, phpbbweb.com, would be closing at the end of March due to the few numbers of people using it.

First of all, let me advise that this does not affect the Commemorations Project forum, which will remain.

This meant we had to look at our options, and come to a decision very quickly.

It had been our intention a few years ago to migrate the information here on to the Commemorations Project, and this work had started before stalling.

We will now be reinstating that migration.

All of the cemetery pages on this site will eventually move over to the Commemorations Project. This will be a time consuming process, but we will hope to complete it before the end of this year. At the moment it is only a small number of us carrying out this migration - if you would like to volunteer to help us with this, please do contact us.

If you are not registered on the Commemorations Project, I would suggest you do so. Your membership of this forum will not be transferred over.

If you have not visited the other forum, it can be found here: http://warmemscot.s4.bizhat.com/index.php?mforum=warmemscot

If you have any questions, I will try to answer them here. I will post some answers to questions you might already have in the reply to this post.

Is there a way this forum could be kept open?

A. Not without time and (probably) money. The website address would change whatever we do, so the simplest thing to do is migrate the information here, putting both forums in the one place.

How is the information being moved over?

We have saved an offline copy of each webpage which needs to be transferred. This includes all information posted, plus the links to the images. This means we can recreate the information on the other forum, but it will be time-consuming.

Can I help with transferring the information?

Yes, but there are some things to consider:

1. There will be some guidelines to follow, as we want to try and keep the format of each cemetery roughly the same.
2. This is time consuming work, and not fun. Only volunteer if you're serious about helping and are willing to commit the time required.

If you're ok with that, please get in touch with us.

When is this forum closing?

21st March 2021 is the date I was given. We were advised that they could possibly migrate the forum to another host, but I received no reply when I replied asking them to do so. In any case, that would be a stop-gap measure. We still intend to transfer all the information here.

How much has to be transferred?

Quite a lot. Some sections are already transferred fully - Aberdeenshire, Argyll & Bute, Ayrshire and Renfrewshire are already complete. Lanarkshire is probably 75% complete. Some sections will take a LOT of time - Glasgow for example has several cemeteries comprising dozens of pages. We'll get there, but please be patient.
