[Mod edit: Adam
Note Sgt (AG) Carrie RAFVR is listed as killed in action but is buried in a UK cemetery. This text came from Lost bombers website and it refers to the only 144 Squadron plane lost on that date. Although Carrie was not one of the crew it does mention deaths in a plane crash.
"Airborne from North Luffenham. Crashed 2343 on return to base. The Hampden swung on touch down and collided with the Airfield Control Caravan. The bomber crew escaped with little more than a severe shaking, but two airmen in the caravan were killed and a third injured.. Sgt Nightingale Sgt Sparks Sgt Gailey Sgt Ward AC1 G.Roberts AC2 F.G.Malin" ] |
