I have a subscription to Ancestry so if anyone wants any lookups, just PM me with what you want and I will send you a jpg of what I find.

Dunno, send me something and I'll give it a shot - never had cause to look at these records myself

Paul,
I'm unsure what info "ancestry" can provide but can you search for a chap called Oswald Allan Wright, no.SS106944, Royal Navy?
He died @ 1917 possibly or @ 1921 in the Toxteth area of Liverpool and was @ 29 years old. _________________ There must be a place under the sun where hearts of Olden Glory grow young ..... |

Oswald Allan Wright - well he is not in the army pension records of course, nor in the naval division casualties. I found the index to his birth certificate so you can send off for it if you want. Also found him in the 1891 census showing his parents as Alfred and Anne. (copies of those 2 docs sent by email). Can't find him in the 1901 census for some reason.
His death was registered in 4th quarter of 1917 (index also sent) so you can order his death cert if you wish. That ties up with being born in 1888 and aged 29 at time of death.
hope that helps

Paul,
Thank you very much indeed.
I will need to send for his death certificate to see if I can have his grave classified as a CWGC. _________________ There must be a place under the sun where hearts of Olden Glory grow young ..... |
