NEWFOUNDLANDERS

The men of the Newfoundland Regiment were stationed in the town of Ayr during WWI. My Grandfather and Grandmother lived in Ayr at the time and I remember my grandmother talking about 'The Foondies' who were held in high regard and great affection by the local folk.

This memorial to United States airmen stands in beside the path in Section K of the 1906 Extension of the cemetery.
