Canonbie Parish Cemetery sits on the south bank of the River Esk and is quite extraordinary for the range and dates of graves.

Contains 1 CWGC grave.

From the National Archives of Canada Great War attestation papers:

Born Carnonbie, Manitoba (sic) 29/03/1873. Formerly served 2nd Bn K.O.S.B. Enlisted Winnipeg 18/12/1914.

This headstone is for the family of Sgt Irving’s first wife Catherine Story Calvert who died at Galashiels 3rd June 1900, age 31 years.

Jeannie Irving of Winnipeg (1914) and then of Dundee (1922) mentioned in the CWGC details and on his attestation papers was his second wife.
