I saw this stone and wondered if it was the oldest gravestone with a CWGC listing? First burial is from 1859 with a 1918 CWGC listed addition.

I certainly have older military inscriptions myself, but it's the CWGC listing that gets you.

Just a thought, we couldn't have done this a year ago. Laughing

Name: MACKAY, HUGH
Initials: H
Nationality: United Kingdom
Rank: Sapper
Regiment/Service: Royal Engineers
Age: 46
Date of Death: 07/06/1917
Service No: 65952
Additional information: Son of the late Robert and Margaret Mackay; husband of the late Isabella MacLean Mackay. Born at Gruids, Lairg.
Casualty Type: Commonwealth War Dead
Cemetery: AUCHNESS BURIAL GROUND
